Entry Criteria
- Due to a high demand for the training places we can only accept applications from those who apply to be both on the register of interpreters and the training simultaneously.
- Applicants will need to demonstrate that they have good communication skills, spoken and written, both in English and another language and sufficient time to commit to this course of study.
- Before learners are finally accepted they must attend a one day selection and induction session. This will involve language assessments, interview and overview of the course and the organisation.
The course is available in the following languages:
Arabic, French, Italian, Mandarin, Portuguese (Brazilian and European), Romanian, Russian, Spanish.
If your language is not listed, please contact us. However, please note that new language pathways can only be opened for a minimum of 6 students.
English is the main teaching language. Language-specific tutorials are delivered in the respective languages.
10 am – 3 pm every other Friday
€2000 (includes a 10% discount) if paid in full by 16 September 2011. €2200 thereafter.

Students will also to develop the required skills to work as professional Public Service Interpreters in the legal field:
- Consecutive interpreting (in and out of English)
- Simultaneous interpreting (whispering into English and out of English)
- Sight translation (in and out of English)
- Written translation (in and out of English)
- Students will also learn about the professional legal settings applying to the PSI English Law option (Immigration, Police, Courts)

Morning sessions will be dedicated to learning interpreting skills applied to a specific legal setting.
The sessions are interactive with the use of multimedia facilities.
Afternoon sessions will be dedicated to language specific tutorials.
Homework is set every session. Students will be able to use the http://ec.europa.eu/avservices/home/index_en.cfm? to access teaching materials, exchange on forums and discussion, and be kept up to date with their tutors.
This course is for dedicated students who are committed to Interpreters' Competitions – oral examinations at EU institution to developing professional skills to embrace their new career as a public service interpreter .The sessions are interactive with the use of multimedia facilities.
